life in bullet form
Ahem. I’d like to dedicate this post to Lauren Harper who has been pestering me to update my tumblr and tell everyone about what is going on in my life. It will only make sense if I tell you what’s been happening since August.
- AUGUST: After completing my internship at CBS News New York this summer, I found myself with two lovely weeks at home before adventuring off to Kolkata, India to work on another documentary about the lives of women in poverty. But before I headed on my Lufthansa flight, I celebrated my birthday on August 11 by heading to baltimore with my “boyfriend.” Heh, turns out he’s not my boyfriend anymore, we’re getting married January 2011. And my ring is probably the most unique ring anyone has ever gotten. Screw the diamond industry and telling us what to buy. Ariel bought me a lovely garnet stone ring (the stones vary in shapes, oval, circle, and square, and they wrap all around my finger!). Although I wasn’t expecting to propose to him. For the past couple of months since he’s taken my dad out to dinner I’ve been asking him to marry me! Apparently he was waiting for me to ask all day, although I asked too soon while we were in the car. Oops. He even warned me that I would tell him to not do it that way when the moment would come—I automatically said “YOU CAN’T DO IT THAT WAY!” Yeah, he knows me inside out… but I’m glad he does. So yes, that was the highlight of my August. I wasn’t expecting to ask him though!
- SEPTEMBER: After leaving at the end of August to Kolkata, India, I return back mid-September from filming and eating amazing Indian food. India is a very dirty place, but oh so much fun! But I would recommend to not go during the summer months, or you will hit the 97% humidity rates and suffer like I did. But at least their tasty food made up for it. School ended up starting, and after a very eventful summer, it was really hard to go back.
- OCTOBER: My Rwanda Documentary UMURYANGO premiered October 2nd in State College, PA. About 250 showed up to my premiere. It was a beautiful night filled with a large photo gallery, lots of people, and good Rwandan tea. Then I had my hometown screening on October 9 where about 70 people came. You can find out more about my projects on www.ferashafilms.com. I’m going to turn Ferasha Films into my senior project.
- NOVEMBER: Well, it’s November now. Finals are coming up. But nobody wants to hear about the things I dread. My best friend is getting married next weekend. I’m one of her bridesmaids. She’s making me wear an orange dress. Ok. Persimmon. I’m helping organize her Bachelorette Party. I need ideas. Thanksgiving is coming up too. I can’t wait to eat turkey and the big cow butt my dad roasts every year.
So here you are, my life in about 4 months. I can’t wait for Christmas break either.

Verizon Wars
I found this site that shows all three Verizon Commercials mocking AT&T’s iPhone service/internet/etc. It’s a good laugh…

School of Seven Bells, I saw them in Manhattan this past Friday. Awesome Show. They don’t use any lighting, it’s all about what they project behind them.

my life this past week.
- Moved into Manhattan for 2 months two Sunday’s ago for an internship
- Last Monday is my first day at my internship. After work I catch a train to Philly to take a final exam the next day.
- Took a final this past Tuesday in Philly for Business Statistics
- Spent Tuesday at the Philly Art Museum and Ikea with Ariel while eating too much
- Spent Tuesday night in Queens with Marry
- Wednesday: made it to work. phew. Dead tired. Saw Charlene Ava and Vinny at the Delancy. I filmed their show. Good stuff. Plus Ariel came.
- I eat a pretty huge burrito. Amazing! I also had a cupcake, the icing was too buttery though.
- Thursday: Settling in… finally getting to know my roommate. We eat out together. I aslo encounter my first ever cockroach. I scream. Thursday night I have nightmares about them, I sleep with the hallway light on…
- Friday: I see School of Seven Bells at the Bowery Ballroom. They were freakin awesome. Their show would be killer if they ever got a live drummer though. It was the only thing really missing.
- Saturday: Sleep in. ZZZ. I shop with Charlene and we go to Uni Qlo, my new favorite store (to all those american apparel fans, ha! you’re screwed). Then spent the night in Queens again with Marry. We saw UP, Pixar is genius.
- Sunday (yesterday): Umm… I wake up in Marry’s bed with my clothes still on, apparently I fell asleep while we were in conversation. She takes the air matress in her living room. I’m such a good friend. We head back to the city and go to church, Journey Metro. The worship leaders made me want to crack up, they need adderal. Then we meet one of Marry’s friends. I also went to the Maoz here. They accept debit/credit here unlike Philly. Although they give you less falafel (boo!) by stuffing in lettuce with your pita. BUT they make Sweet Potato Fries at the NY Maoz! Philly needs to catch on.
- Today: just another day. Going to head to the lincoln center to buy my ticket for a documentary filmed in Rwanda called “My Neighbor, My Killer”. Film isn’t until the 22nd.
